Terms of service
Last updated October 7, 2026
- Your content is yours. We host it and show it to the customers you share it with.
- The job, the price and the result are between you and your customer.
- Paid plans are monthly. Cancel any time; nothing is deleted when a plan ends.
- Don’t use it to break the law, spam people or get into someone else’s account.
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Here’s Your Update (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you’re using it for a business, you’re agreeing on that business’s behalf.
Customers who open a link a business sent them don’t need an account and aren’t asked to accept these terms to view their page. The sections on acceptable use apply to everyone.
Your account
- Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your password to yourself.
- You’re responsible for what happens in your account, including what the people you invite do with the access you give them.
- Tell us promptly at support@heresyourupdate.com if you think someone else has got into your account.
Plans, trial and billing
Current plans, prices and limits are on the pricing page.
- Free plan. 3 active jobs, for as long as you like.
- Trial. A new account starts with 14 days of the Business plan. No card is needed. When the trial ends the account moves to Free by itself unless you’ve chosen a paid plan.
- Paid plans. Billed monthly, in advance, by card through Stripe. Your subscription renews each month until you cancel.
- Canceling. You can cancel from the billing page at any time. A canceled plan stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and then the account moves to Free. Your information isn’t deleted when a plan ends.
- Price changes. If we change the price of a plan you’re paying for, we’ll tell you by email before the change applies to you.
Your content
What you put into the service — updates, photos, videos, documents, messages and the rest — stays yours. You give us permission to store it, display it to you and to the customers you share it with, and send it in the notifications you set up. That permission exists only so we can run the service for you.
You’re responsible for what you post: that it’s accurate, that you have the right to share it, and that it doesn’t break the law or someone else’s rights.
Your customers
- Only add contact details you’re entitled to use, and only send emails and text messages to people who expect to hear from you about their job.
- You’re responsible for following the rules that apply to messaging your customers where you operate.
- A customer link works for anyone who has it. Use the PIN, expiry and revoke controls when a job calls for more care.
- The relationship with your customer — the work, the price, the outcome — is between you and them. We provide the page; we aren’t a party to the job.
Approvals and signatures
When a customer answers an approval request, we save what they were shown, their answer, the name they gave, any typed or drawn signature, and the date and time. That record can’t be edited afterwards, and both sides can download a copy.
We don’t give legal advice. Whether a click, a typed name or a drawn signature is enough for a particular agreement depends on your trade and where you work — that’s for you to decide, with advice if you need it.
Payments from your customers
Card payments are processed by Stripe when it’s connected, under Stripe’s own terms. We aren’t a bank or a payment processor: we show the request, send the customer to Stripe’s checkout, and mark the request paid when Stripe confirms it. You can also record payments you received another way.
Refunds, disputes and taxes on what you charge your customers are yours to handle.
The writing assistant
AI assist suggests wording from the notes you give it. It’s instructed not to add facts, but it can still get things wrong. Nothing it writes is published until a person publishes it, and you’re responsible for what you send.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- Use the service for anything unlawful, deceptive or harassing, or to send spam.
- Upload malware, or content you have no right to share.
- Try to get into another business’s workspace or another customer’s page, or probe or overload the service.
- Resell the service or copy it.
We look into reports of abuse, and we can suspend a page or an account that breaks these rules.
Demos and examples
The businesses, people and jobs in our demos and on this site’s example screens are made up. Demo workspaces are read-only: what you do there isn’t saved and no messages are sent.
The service itself
We work to keep Here’s Your Update available and your information safe, and we keep improving it — which means features can change. We don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and it’s provided “as is”.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost business, and our total liability to you for any claim about the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited.
Ending things
You can stop using the service whenever you like. To close your account and have your information erased, use Settings → Account → Delete account (what that removes), or write to support@heresyourupdate.com if you can’t sign in. If you’d like a copy of your information first, ask and we’ll help.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.
Changes and contact
If we change these terms we’ll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll tell account owners by email before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply.
