Delete your account
Last updated October 7, 2026
- You can delete your account yourself, in the app or here: Settings, then Account, then Delete account.
- It happens straight away and can’t be undone.
- A workspace only you use is deleted with it. A workspace you share is handed over or deleted — you choose.
- Customers of a business don’t have an account; the business controls what’s on their page.
How to delete your account
You can do it yourself, in the app or on this website, in about a minute. It takes effect straight away — there’s no waiting period and nothing for us to approve.
- Sign in to the iPhone app, the Android app or this website.
- Open Settings, then Account, and choose Delete account at the bottom of the page.
- Read what will happen. If you own a workspace that other people use, choose whether to hand it over to one of them or delete it.
- Type the confirmation shown on the page and enter your password. If your account has no password, we email you a link to confirm instead.
- Press Delete my account. You’re signed out everywhere and the account is gone.
Start deleting your account. If you’re not signed in, you’ll be asked to sign in first.
What is deleted from your account
- Your sign-in: your email address and your password.
- Your name and your display preferences.
- Every device you’re signed in on, and the record of where and when you signed in.
- Notification registrations for your browsers and for the iPhone app, your notification settings and your in-app notifications.
- Any unused sign-in or password links, and our log of the sign-in emails we sent you.
What happens to your workspaces
A workspace is a business’s space in Here’s Your Update. What happens to one depends on who else is in it.
You’re the only person in it. The workspace is deleted with your account: every job and customer, every update, photo, video, voice note and document, every message, approval request and signed approval record, every payment request and payment record, the activity log, automations, branding and settings. The files are removed from our storage. Customer links for that workspace stop working at once. If the workspace has a paid plan, the subscription is canceled at the same moment.
You’re its only owner, and other people use it. You choose. You can hand it over — one of them becomes the owner and nothing in the workspace changes — or delete it for everyone, which removes everything listed above.
Someone else owns it. You’re removed from the team and the workspace carries on. The work you did there belongs to that business and stays: updates, messages and files you posted keep the name they were posted with. The business’s own records of its team stay too — its activity log (what you did, that your email address was invited and joined, and that you left) and its log of the notification emails it sent you.
What we keep, and for how long
- A marker that an account was deleted. An empty account record with the date it was deleted — no name, no email address, no password. We keep it so that older records don’t point at nothing and so we can show that a deletion happened.
- A line in our server log saying that an account was deleted, with internal reference numbers and counts (how many jobs and files were removed) but no names or addresses. It is kept as long as our server logs are.
- What you posted in someone else’s workspace, and that business’s records of its team, as described above. The business decides how long these are kept; they are deleted when the business deletes them or its workspace.
- Billing records at Stripe. If you paid for a plan, Stripe keeps the invoices and payment records it is legally required to keep. We never held your card number.
- Reports of abuse that someone made about a customer page, which we keep to protect other people.
- Backups. Backups of our database made before you deleted your account still contain it until they are replaced by newer ones. We don’t restore deleted accounts from them.
Emails and text messages that were already sent can’t be recalled.
If you can’t sign in
Forgotten your password? Reset it, sign in, and follow the steps above.
If that isn’t possible, write to support@heresyourupdate.com from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. We’ll check that the request really comes from you and then delete it for you, exactly as described on this page.
Deleting some things without deleting your account
In the app you can remove individual jobs, customers, photos, documents and messages whenever you like. They disappear from your workspace and from customer pages straight away, though they can remain in our database until they are permanently erased.
To have specific information permanently erased while keeping your account, write to support@heresyourupdate.com and tell us what it is.
If you’re a customer of a business
If a business sent you a private link to follow your job, you don’t have an account with us, so there is nothing for you to delete here. The business that sent the link decides what is on your page and how long it is kept.
To have your details or your page removed, ask that business — they can delete your job, your messages and your contact details, or switch your link off. If you can’t reach them, write to support@heresyourupdate.com and we’ll pass your request on.
